Explore the two-day syllabus

Adapted from D’Olde Kopitiam: build and brand the business, develop the team and business model, develop and price the product, then design operating systems.

Output: A business model and team responsibility map.

Day 2: Develop the product, systems and application plan

  1. Product Development: turn the offer into a customer decision

Apply the original 5P of Marketing and develop a unique selling proposition. Identify costs, set a reasoned price and pitch the product to a consumer.

Output: A product concept, USP, cost and pricing notes, and pitch.

  2. Business Systems: make delivery repeatable

Map a business process into an SOP. Apply the source Law of Lowest Common Denominator to system design.

Output: A process map and draft SOP.

  3. Putting It All Together: turn the simulation into action

Explore an exercise and its review questions

"Kopitiam Phase 3": use the original simulation to develop and deliver the product and pitch it to consumers.

Feedback and review: Compare the pitch, price and customer response; identify the product or message revision supported by feedback.

What you revise or apply: Test the revised offer and price with a prospective customer; record their questions and response.

Inspect a worked example: Test a small business idea

Illustrative teaching example. This is fictional, not a participant submission, facilitator feedback record or evidence of results.

Starting draft
I want to earn extra income by selling lunch packs.
Review question
Who would buy, what would each pack cost to prepare and deliver, and what evidence would justify a small test?
More specific version
Ask prospective customers about their lunch needs and response to a sample offer. List ingredient, packaging and delivery costs, account for your time, and set a trial price. Choose a spending limit before testing a small batch; record any orders, costs and feedback before deciding whether to repeat or revise it.

Try it: write your own starting statement, answer the review question and choose one action you can check afterwards.

03 · Time and included support

Your attendance and follow-through

Test a small business idea with prospective customers. Record feedback, costs and any sales, then revise your offer, price or delivery process during coaching. The programme does not guarantee income or business revenue.

Included in the fee: 90 days to implement what you learnt and committed to during the two-day programme.

  • Between coaching days: put your commitments into practice and use the WhatsApp group for online peer coaching.
  • Day 30: half-day group coaching.
  • Day 60: half-day group coaching.
  • Day 90: half-day group coaching and graduation.

Plan for the two programme days, three half-days of group coaching and time between them to implement your commitments. Implementation time depends on the work you choose; it is separate from the coaching sessions.
